Emomali Rahmon, within the framework of the UN Water Conference in New York, took part in the ceremony of presenting a gift from the Government of Tajikistan to the United Nations.

The toothed crown is a unique historical find, dating back to the beginning of the formation of the Tajik people – the Kushan statehood.

“This attraction also embodies the ancient history and rich heritage of the Tajik people, who since ancient times have peacefully coexisted with other civilizations and peoples in the spirit of peace and stability,” the press service said in a statement.
Emomali Rahmon said that this gift also reflects the comprehensive efforts and support for the goals and values of the UN to strengthen friendly relations between countries and peoples through history, art and culture.

The head of Tajikistan expressed hope that the UN member states, after getting acquainted with this artifact, would know more about the ancient culture and history of the Tajiks.
On the day of the celebration of Navruz – March 21 – Emomali Rahmon took part and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition “History of the Development of Tajikistan”, which was also held as part of the water conference at the UN headquarters.

The purpose of organizing the exhibition is to present important periods in the history of Tajik statehood, rich and ancient culture, beautiful and unique nature, rich natural resources, tourism opportunities, historical monuments, art, handicrafts, etc.
On this day, Emomali Rahmon met with UN Secretary General António Guterres.
They discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the UN.

“It was noted that Tajikistan is ready, together with the UN and its member states, to make joint efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, eliminate modern threats and dangers, and ensure the highest values of humanity.

The parties also discussed issues of post-pandemic recovery, economic and financial crises, dangers and threats of terrorism and extremism.
Recall, Emomali Rahmon went on a working visit to the United States on March 20 to participate in the UN Water Conference.
Accompanying the President on the trip are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Assistants for Foreign Relations and Personnel Affairs, the Minister of Energy and Water Resources, chairmen of the Committees for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense and Environmental Protection, and other officials.
