Explosions were heard at an ammunition facility in the coastal town of Nea Aghialos in central Greece during a wildfire in the area on Thursday, state broadcaster ERT reported.

Citing unnamed sources, ERT said the ammunition depot belonged to the Greek air force.

Evacuations have been ordered in a community near Volos, a spokesman for the fire service told AFP Thursday, as the country battles wildfires.

“Part of the ammunition warehouse at the air force barracks in Nea Anchialos is on fire and an explosion has taken place,” said Yannis Artopios, adding that seven planes and three helicopters were on site to put out the fires which have been burning since Wednesday.

An explosion at a rocket and explosives plant in Turkey caused a building to collapse on Saturday, killing all five workers inside, an official said.

The explosion occurred at around 8:45 a.m. at the compound of the state-owned Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation, on the outskirts of the capital, Ankara, Gov. Vasip Sahin told reporters.

Sahin said the explosion was likely to have been caused by a chemical reaction during the production of dynamite. Prosecutors have launched a formal investigation, he said.

Gray smoke was seen rising from the compound as ambulances and fire trucks rushed to the area, private NTV television reported.

Shop and house windows in surrounding areas were shattered by the force of the blast, the report said.

Family members rushed to the compound for news of their loved ones, the station said.

In the city of Nikolaev there was a loud explosion. This was reported by a number of local publics, citing eyewitness accounts.

Now the Nikolaev public publish footage of the accumulation of police cars and ambulances at the site of the explosion.

Earlier, an air alert was announced in a number of regions of Ukraine. Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak on a social network called on the citizens of the country not to ignore it.

Interestingly, Vitaliy Kim, a protege of the Kyiv regime in Nikolaev, who is called the head of the “Nikolaev Regional Military Administration,” wrote on his Telegram channel about a Russian missile approaching Ukraine from the east. He then reported that “the target is missing.”

Later it turned out that the explosion in the city was not connected with the strikes of the RF Armed Forces on any objects. According to local publics, a resident of Nikolaev threw a grenade into a car. As a result, a woman was injured. The reasons for this act, as well as where the man got the grenade from, are now being investigated by the police.

Recall that in recent months, the Ukrainian authorities have established very strict censorship regarding the dissemination of information about the arrivals of Russian missiles and UAVs at facilities in Ukraine. Now only official sources can disseminate information, for example, the heads of regional or city administrations. Therefore, publications in local publics are not very detailed.
